Unifly Showcases Advanced U-space Services at SPATIO Project Open Day

Antwerp, Belgium – October 30, 2025 – Unifly, a leading provider of UAS Traffic Management (UTM) solutions, showcased its latest advancements in U-space services during the SPATIO Project Open Day, held under the SESAR 3 Joint Undertaking and the European Union’s Horizon Europe programme.
The event highlighted Solution 1A: Strategic Conflict Resolution and Separation Management Service, marking a significant milestone toward the safe, fair, and efficient integration of drones into European airspace.

A day dedicated to innovation and collaboration

Hosted on October 29, 2025, at the INCAS Strejnicu Flight Base (LRPV) in Romania, the event brought together industry leaders, researchers, and policymakers for a day of technical discussions, live flight demonstrations, and networking. Participants explored the next evolution of U-space through keynote sessions and validation showcases, emphasizing the collaborative progress driving Europe’s drone integration efforts.

At the core of the event was the Separation Management Service, designed to dynamically adjust separation standards based on real-time operational conditions. This innovation enhances both safety and equity in airspace access, values central to Unifly’s mission of enabling inclusive and efficient U-space operations.

Also, technological innovation regarding fairness and equity among UAS operators in multi-USSPs environments. By embedding fairness rules directly into flight planning and access management, the project ensures balanced airspace utilisation among USSPs and UAS operators according to their priorities.

Organised by ROMATSA, INCAS, and ENAIRE, the Open Day demonstrated tangible progress in U-space deployment, validating the project’s results at Technology Readiness Level 6 (TRL6).
Unifly took an active role through technical presentations and live demonstrations alongside partners ROMATSA, INDRA, UPV, and INCAS. These demonstrations highlighted seamless human–machine interfaces (HMI) and real-time data exchange in a multi-USSP (U-space Service Provider) setup, a crucial step toward scalable, interoperable U-space implementation across Europe.

Unifly’s role within the project

Unifly contributed to the design, integration, and validation of these strategic-phase services, enhancing flight planning efficiency and operational fairness through advanced airspace management and data exchange mechanisms.
The USM service delivers real-time information on protection volumes and airspace status, enabling conflict-free and optimised drone operations.

Through its interoperable UTM platform, Unifly actively supports this vision, fostering collaboration among multiple service providers and enhancing operational safety, capacity, and efficiency across Europe’s evolving airspace ecosystem.
