The Challenge
Why SORA Matters for Growing Operators
Open Category operations have well-defined limitations: as soon as missions involve BVLOS flights, operations over populated areas, heavier aircraft, or increased operational complexity, the activity moves into the Specific Category, where a SORA risk assessment becomes mandatory.
Why Learn From Us?
Stop guessing and start operating! We leverage our deep roots in international rulemaking to give you a clear, actionable path to successful drone authorisations
Learn from the Architects of SORA
We don’t just interpret the regulations; we help write them. As active members of JARUS (WG-SAM), EASA, and EUROCAE, we provide insights into the intent behind the rules. You’ll gain a “future-proof” understanding of SORA 2.5 directly from the source.
Proven Regulatory Diplomacy
With a track record of 100+ supported SORAs across 12+ countries, we know exactly what different Civil Aviation Authorities (CAAs) are looking for. We teach you how to avoid the common pitfalls that lead to rejected applications and project delays.
Built for Business Speed
We understand that your goal isn’t just “compliance” it’s operations. Our training is condensed into a high-impact, one-day intensive designed for professionals. We skip the academic fluff and focus on the practical path to getting your drones in the air legally and efficiently.

Detailed Course Description
This one-day SORA 2.5 training is designed for professionals who need a practical and complete understanding of the methodology, without committing to long multi-day courses.
You will learn how to apply SORA step by step, from Ground Risk to SAIL, supported by real operational examples such as BVLOS and infrastructure inspection scenarios.
Our instructors do not just teach SORA. They actively contribute to its evolution through the JARUS working groups where SORA is developed and continuously improved.
By the end of the day, you will understand what SORA means for your operations, your products, and your approval timeline. You will also learn how to avoid common mistakes that can cause delays and compliance issues.

FAQs
1. What is SORA and why is it required for Specific Category UAS operations?
SORA (Specific Operations Risk Assessment) is a methodology used to assess and mitigate the risks of UAS/drone operations—especially when operating in the EASA Specific Category. It helps operators structure their safety case (including ground and air risk) and define appropriate mitigations so they can submit the assessment to the competent authority to obtain the authorisation to fly .
2. What is SORA 2.5
SORA 2.5 is the updated version of the SORA methodology developed in the JARUS context and widely adopted in Europe under EASA drone regulations. It provides a practical framework for planning and documenting Specific Category operations, including risk assessment logic and evidence needed for an authority permit to fly.
3. Do I need a SORA risk assessment to obtain an operational authorisation to fly?
If your operation falls under the Specific Category, a SORA risk assessment (or equivalent risk-based approach) is required to support your request for UAS operation authorisation. Exact expectations vary by national authority and operation type, but SORA is one of the most used methodologies worldwide for demonstrating safe operations.
4. How do I do a drone risk assessment using the SORA methodology?
A SORA-based drone risk assessment typically starts with your Concept of Operations (ConOps), then evaluates ground risk and air risk, and applies mitigations to reach the required safety level. The outcome is a structured package that can be reviewed by an authority for Specific Category operations. Our live online SORA 2.5 training provides a structured introduction to the steps, terminology, and common pitfalls, so you can apply the methodology correctly and autonomously.
5. Who is the online SORA training for (operators, manufacturers, authorities)?
Our live online SORA 2.5 training is designed for whoever needs a clear introduction to the SORA methodology without a multi-day course. It is particularly relevant for operators preparing their Specific Category application, manufacturers ensuring their drone products meet regulatory requirements, as well as other stakeholders involved in SORA-based operations. It focuses on practical understanding of the SORA methodology, common pitfalls, and how to apply the basics to Specific Category UAS operations.
