Project Manager

Unifly is the leading software provider of unmanned traffic management technology. Our platform for Unmanned Traffic Management (UTM) is used on a national scale in various European countries, as well as in the North America, Africa and Asia. With this platform, authorities can manage and visualize drone flights in their airspace. Drone operators can plan, track and validate their drones and associated flights, taking into account national and international legislation.

For our office in Antwerp (Deurne), we’re currently looking for a: Project Manager.

Purpose of the job

As a Project Manager, you are responsible for planning, organizing, monitoring and directing the completion of projects within Unifly. You ensure that projects are delivered on time, within budget and scope while guaranteeing quality. You will manage the relationship with the customer and all project stakeholders to successfully deliver the project.

As a Project Manager, you will directly report to the head of project management and will work closely with different teams within Unifly (software engineers, product owners, etc.).

Responsibilities of the job

As a Project Manager, you are responsible for the planning and timely execution of the development and implementation of the projects, amongst others:

  • Initiating
    • Clarifying and communicating the scope, timeline and goals of the project
    • Identify key internal and external stakeholders
    • Establish deliverables and outcomes
    • Kick off the project
    • Implement the standardized setup in the project planning board
  • Planning
    • Develop a comprehensive project plan
  • Executing
    • Engages with the planning board
    • Manages the work of project subcontractors and partners
    • Supports the cross-functional teams in the completion of project work
    • Manages changes to the project and ensures that they are properly documented and approved
  • Monitoring & controlling
    • Monitors and reports the progress of a project
    • Monitors the project budget spending
    • Ensures that milestones are reached
    • Manages late delivery of releases
    • Monitor and manage administrative aspects of the project
    • Ensures that project deliverables meet the established quality standards
    • Maintains, updates and registers on potential project risks and issues (f.e. unavailability of resources, work items shifted to later sprints,…) throughout the product lifecycle
    • Regularly communicates with the customer and all stakeholders
  • Closing
    • Ensure all activities necessary to achieve the final result are completed
    • Work with the customer to get formal acceptance of the project
    • Handover the project to the customer and to Unifly support
    • Review the work of third-party vendors/partners to close their contracts and pay their invoices
    • Conduct lessons learned
  • Facilitate effective communication between team members, stakeholders and other relevant parties. Keep all stakeholders informed of project progress, issues and changes.

Job skills

  • Minimum Bachelors degree
  • At least 4 years experience in a similar role
  • You have the necessary technical skills, amongst others:
    • An in-depth understanding of project management concepts, methodologies and processes
    • Proficient organizational, planning and coordination skills
    • Proven ability to manage projects throughout the entire project lifecycle (= Project cycle management)
    • Strong knowledge of system and software architecture
    • Experience in Agile Software Development, JIRA and Confluence
  • You have a strong interest in technology (affinity with aviation or drones is a plus)
  • You are flexible and pragmatic in meeting customer and company interests and deadlines
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills with both internal and external stakeholders.
  • You have excellent knowledge of Dutch and English
  • Familiarity with a Quality Management System is a plus
  • Pragmatic and hands-on approach to problem-solving based on data
  • Attention to details to ensure quality in project deliverables
