Front-end Engineer

Unifly is the world leader in unmanned traffic management. Our software for Unmanned Traffic Management (UTM) is used on a national scale in various European countries, as well as in the US, Africa and Asia. With its platform, authorities can manage and visualize drone flights in their airspace, just like defining no-fly zones. Drone operators can plan, track and validate their drones and associated flights, taking into account national and international legislation.

For our office in Antwerp (Deurne), we’re currently looking for a: Front-end Engineer.

Purpose of the job

As a Front-end Engineer (m/f), you are a key contributor to our core UTM platform. You take your part in the technical design, development and test automation of our enterprise-grade traffic management platform. As part of our 20+ Engineering team, you work on our core product offering, as well as customer-specific extensions.

Responsibilities of the job

  • You are a constructive participant in our day-to-day processes: standups, sprint plannings, PR reviews, designs and estimations
  • You are an active contributor to our web-based front-end application
    • technical design and development of our main UI application
      • sophisticated transactional form-based CRUD
      • sophisticated map / geospatial display and interactions
      • real-time communication and visualizations (using WebSockets)
    • improve and expand our automated test suite
    • write technical documentation for your colleagues
  • You keep an eye out for technical advancements in the front-end ecosystem, especially concerning:
    • geospatial frameworks
    • real-time communication frameworks

Job skills

Technical skills:

  • A track record in shipping enterprise-grade end-user-facing applications with non-trivial back-/front-end communications
  • Fluent in at least one front-end development framework (Vue, Angular, React, Aurelia)
  • Experience writing typed Javascript using Typescript and/or Flow
  • A track record of working in a development team using modern processes and tools
  • A keen eye for detail and precision when completing your work: clean pull requests, constructive code reviews
  • A genuine interest in test automation
  • Nice to have: experience in developing geospatial or map applications, e.g. using Luciad, Mapbox etc

 

Soft skills:
  • You want to work in a team with trust and accountability as core values
  • You communicate well: proactive, to the point, factual, constructive
  • You are not worried about the low amount of buzzword / technical terms in this description, as you are mature enough to understand that we need to hire for potential, and you will want to learn our specifics to become a productive team member
  • You like a mean game of table soccer or pool now and then, or would love to grow your skills
